Terms of Service

Welcome to Ngamuche. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Ngamuche website and platform at ngamuche.com (the "Service"), operated by Ngamuche ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Ngamuche is an online marketplace that connects learners and families with independent language tutors for live online lessons in African languages, and offers digital learning materials and curriculum subscriptions. Tutors are independent providers, not our employees; we facilitate scheduling, payment, and delivery of lessons and materials.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your sign-in credentials secure. Accounts for children must be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian, and lessons for children are booked and supervised through the parent's account. You are responsible for activity under your account.

3. Bookings, payments & refunds

Lesson prices are set by tutors; bundle and subscription prices are shown at checkout. All payments are processed by Stripe — we do not store your card details. Subscription plans renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel any time and keep access through the end of the paid period (plus a short grace period). If a tutor misses a lesson or a technical failure on our side prevents a lesson from happening, we will reschedule the lesson or restore the session credit. Refund requests can be sent to Support and are reviewed case by case; digital downloads are generally non-refundable once accessed.

4. Tutors

Tutors must complete an application and identity verification before receiving payouts, which are processed through Stripe Connect. Tutors set their own rates; Ngamuche retains a platform commission disclosed during onboarding. Tutors must deliver booked lessons professionally and on time, and may not solicit Ngamuche learners for off-platform payment.

5. Content & intellectual property

All curriculum, worksheets, books, audio, and other learning materials on the Service are the property of Ngamuche or its licensors and are protected by copyright. Purchasing or subscribing grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the materials within your household (or, for licensed schools, within the scope of the school licence). You may not redistribute, resell, or publicly post the materials.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service — including attempting to access other users' data, disrupting the platform, recording lessons without consent, or using the Service for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

7. Disclaimers & liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ngamuche's total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the amount you paid to us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms here with a new effective date, and material changes will be communicated to account holders by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
